Isfahan - Iran

Isfahan among the 52 popular travel spots in 2021

New York Times has recently published a post on 52 popular spots chosen by people in 2020. Since 2020 was a dark year for many people around the world, NYTimes has surveyed which destinations were most delightful, comforting, and inspiring most to travelers and honorably Isfahan is among the 52 suggestions out of 2000 choices to remind us that Iran is a worthy destination to visit. This is the second year in a row that the city has been selected as a popular travel spot by travelers.
Neeknaz Abari, who is raised in Washington explains her vivid memories of visiting Iran:

… the smiling, chattering taxi drivers with their endless questions about America and their playful jabs at my accent; the winding alleyways that reveal hidden nooks and crannies in the Grand Bazaar. “

She tries to give us a true image of a destination that is constantly attacked by the mass media as a dark one! However, many travelers who have visited this country believe that Iran is a safe country for travelers, Iranians are known for their warm-heartedness and hospitality that is why guests often enjoy their trip and as many would say, they will pay a second visit if they get the chance.
The lovely city of Isfahan which is also known as the Turquoise Jewel of Iran, due to the nice blue tile works applied in its historical attractions, has once been the capital of Iran in history; today, it is home to numerous architectural wonders including the UNESCO-listed Naghshe Jahan Square where tourists take the time to stroll around, chatting the local people and enjoying the atmosphere.
However, this is not all about Isfahan! There is a lot you would not want to miss, this gorgeous city awaits you in 2021.

Enjoy watching a short video of Isfahan, Iran.

Irandoostan align with sustainable tourism

Tourism always has both positive and negative impacts on the environment and target communities. The development of tourism, without managing its effects, can harm the environment, culture, and the host community. The development of sustainable tourism, by managing the effects of tourism on the environment, the economy, and the destination community, preserves the resources of the destination and even promotes them. Today, with the increasing number of tourists around the world and with the aim of preserving, and protecting the environment, social structures, cultures, and customs, the new concept of “sustainable tourism” has attracted the attention of many. Along with global activities, Irandoostan company is also taking steps towards sustainable tourism.

What activities does Iran Doostan do to reach the purpose of sustainable tourism?

In general, the main and long-term goals of Iran Doostan, in line with sustainable tourism include tourism efficient & eco-friendly waste disposal, maintaining the environment, and minimizing the environmental damages. It is worth mentioning that this company has done good environmental activities in this direction so far. Here are some of these activities:

  • Cooperating with sustainable lodges

With all respect for those who prefer a neat stay in many star hotels, the process of hotel buildings can be harmful to nature and also the local culture. Ecolodges, on the other hand, use eco-friendly materials and methods to be built and relive the ritual and cultural heritage helping the destination society to remain for the future. Iran Doostan group supports these green ecolodges and eco-camps to offer the guests experience of the local culture and also guaranteeing the maintenance of the host society and environment. Let’s review how does it help to save our planet:

1-Using less Disposable utensils other plastic packaging materials to avoid producing garbage

2-Preserving the culture and tradition of the local community

3_contributing in the conservation of local ecosystems

  • The volunteer nature cleaning

It’s 2020 and so many people know the real value of a healthy environment, but there are also some people still leaving their trash by purpose or even inadvertently in nature.  The various climbing and hiking groups in Iran clean the nature of garbage sometimes in turn and sometimes individually and voluntarily. Iran Doostan group is definitely one of those. In every ascent and any other activities by our responsibility the team takes any piece of garbage on the ground and brings that back to the living area well-packed. In each ascent to Damavand, a number of rental mules are allocated to return the waste.

  1. People with the purpose of reaching the peak, preserve the mountain environment themselves.
  2. The old Shelter, with the same environmental protection activities, has been emptied of garbage and has been renovated to a sustainable residence.

The volunteering activities for cleaning nature saves the planet.

  • Helping the economy of host societies

Taking trash from nature might be an easy task for hikers, but carrying all those packages requires renting the mules and also asking for villagers’ help. This behavior not only promotes the community but also creates jobs for the villagers and increases the income amount for the local community.

Besides all the above, the Irandoostan group is paying for the hiking permits between 30-50 dollars per person which is used as the budget for the renovation of huts and shelters, and also for carrying the garbage to the right place. It should be noted that most of these activities have been carried out during the ascent season, and at the end of each season, Irandoostan Company will conduct a final review of the activities related to this issue.

As a pioneer of tourism industry in Iran, IDT believes that improving employees’ skills would result in providing satisfactory customer services as well as developing customer loyalty for the organization. As a matter of fact, a company who would like to increase its customer loyalty, has to go beyond customers’ expectations and should find out how to deal with various levels of needs among customers.
The workshop covered basic concepts and practical skills which are essential to create and maintain Customer Loyalty. In this session, the importance of loyalty and how to create emotional connections and exceptional experiences to differentiate in tourism market and also how to drive revenues and growth were discussed.

Customer Loyalty Workshop at Iran Doostan
Reviewing the conceptual frameworks, the participants cooperated in different teams, based on different sectors of IDT (Cultural, adventure, MICE, operation, Matin Abad, marketing) to practice these lessons. Each team started writing its own goals and objectives and then segmented the customers according to their various levels of needs into three groups and finally they tried developing action plan to build loyalty. Customer segmentation is the most challenging part of customer loyalty programs, since it will be a guide to the following steps; it would specifically contribute to campaign planning and balancing marketing costs with customer lifespan value.
Discussing four regular customer club models, evaluating customer lifespan values (CLV) and applying reward programs to various classes of customers were also the main subjects of this workshop.
At the end of the event, all employees were surprised by receiving a flower for the occasion of national tourism week in Iran.
