Let’s climb up to highest summit of Western Asia, Damavand

Mount Damavand, at 5,671 meters (18,602 ft.) is the Western Asia highest mountain and a particularly desirable peak for mountaineers

Based on the reports of the Federation of I. R. Iran Mountaineering & Sport Climbing; this year a large number of climbers had been at Damavand and Alam kuh which 8 thousand foreign climbers climbing into Kalardasht to climb to Alamkuh and Damavand but only 400 mountaineers had climbed to Alamkuh and 600 number of climber had climbed to Damavand.

Damavand has been frequently climbed. The climb is long, but not difficult or dangerous. Because of its great height and isolation, the view from Damavand is very extensive; a vast panorama of mountains, valley and desert covering many handed of square Kilometers. All around are other peaks of the Alborz range, far-reaching in the north to the humid Caspian plain and in the south descending to the deserts of central of Iran.

Mid June to mid-September is the best climbing season for Damavand. During this period the footpaths are usually free of snow, the weather is relatively mild and access by public transportation to the basecamp is easy, but the mountain shelters and refuges are crowded.
