After four years Iranians can obtain UK visa in Tehran again.

The British embassy resumed issuing visa for Iranian citizens on February 24, 2016. “@UKinIran and UK Visas & Immigration today resumed visa service #Iran, as promised 6 months after reopening Embassy” Philip Hammond, Foreign secretary of Britain posted on his tweeter on February 23.

“According to Britain’s government and following the implementation of previous agreements between the two countries the consulate of British embassy will resume its activity in Tehran.” said Hossein Jaberi Ansari Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman.

Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran’s foreign minister in a press conference with Philip Hammond on February 05 said: “We have agreed that the two countries start issuing visa for their citizens in a few weeks. We believe this decision is a positive move in direction of a greater exchange between the two countries and their people and we hope it helps for a better understanding of each other.”

The British embassy in Tehran was closed in 2011 followed by storm of protesters against sanctions on Iran.

Shortly after reaching an agreement between Iran and the six world powers the embassy reopened in Tehran.
